We were all excited about Nicole C. Mullen coming to WHTN/CTN to film the Bridges show.
Before her arrival, I shared with the team that while Nicole is a highly acclaimed, award-winning artist, she is also very kind and down to earth. Despite her incredible accomplishments—two Grammy® Award nominations and nine Gospel Music Association Dove Awards—Nicole is still relatable and approachable. She has received many honors, including Song of the Year for Redeemer and On My Knees, Urban Album of the Year for Everyday People, and Contemporary Song of the Year for Call on Jesus. Notably, she became the first African American woman to win Songwriter of the Year for Redeemer.
Domestic Abuse & Divorce
Nicole’s inspiring story is not without hardship. Despite her record of accomplishments, and her family’s legacy of fame, she’s faced immense challenges, including domestic abuse and divorce. Nicole came to the studio ready to share her challenges – and her story of hope and redemption.
In her own words, Nicole says,
“I was determined to do things my way, but it was in my night season that I truly began to see and feel God clearly.”
As the night season intensified Nicole cried out to God in deep pain, trust, and worship. It was in this place that songs like Redeemer and On My Knees were born. As I talked with Nicole on the Bridges set, I realized that I had interviewed
her years earlier during some of the night seasons of her life. However, it wasn’t clear to me that she was experiencing a night season. I only saw immense talent, incredible kindness, and accolades. Now, Nicole is in a place where she is ready to share that she’s familiar with night seasons and broken relationships.
She learned to forgive abuse and betrayal
She can relate to those who have gone through abuse, betrayal, and heartache. She’s learned to forgive and come out of her “night season” stronger than ever. If you’ve ever wondered if your story can be redeemed listen to Nicole’s story and see how worshipping God in your night season changes everything.
God has fully redeemed Nicole. He has given her a new God-fearing husband Stacey Scott, and both are helping others to bounce back to love. Nicole is also the mother of 3 beautiful grown children, one daughter in love, and two bonus children.
The landscape of her life is changed, and Nicole stands ready to share that the same God who redeemed her story will do the same for you.
Today’s Secret from the Studio:
If you’ll trust God in the night season of your life, He give you beauty for ashes and redeem your story.
