The Bible is not meant to merely be a book that sits on the coffee table or a book we finish and then put away. It is the living word of God and meant to transform us. One of the greatest treasures we can possess is when the Word of God comes alive in our hearts.
Psalms 37:4 tells us to “delight ourselves in the Lord”. There is enjoyment, refreshment, and nourishment we can enjoy when we spend time in God’s word, thus getting to know the heart of God.
God’s word is never old or dead. It is relevant to our lives today. It is living and active, sharper than a two-edged sword that cuts between the bone and marrow (Hebrews 4:12). Meaning, the Word of God penetrates deeply into our being, dividing our soul from our spirit.
If we allow it to, the Word can speak directly to our circumstances. The Word can provide encouragement, wisdom, correction, or strength just when we need it. Because it is living, it is also timely. The Word provides answers, direction, and guidance.
We can trust God’s Word because we can trust the author. God truly has our best interest. He loves us and wants us to enhance us and allow us to live our best life. The Bible is an amazing gift that will help us achieve this.
Whether we realize it or not – we get our ideas and our input from sources all around us. The news we listen to, the shows we watch, the Instagram streams, and so forth. Why not go to the ultimate source … the owner’s manual, so to speak, and get the utmost guidance. As Jeremiah stated in 20:9 b, “But His word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones”.
When we spend time in God’s Word, It cannot help but make a difference! Allow the word of God to move from printing on a page to come alive inside. You will be better for it!
