Fall is porch weather in Middle Tennessee!  With the weather turning from warm to cool and the days getting shorter, don’t forget to spend time in your outdoor spaces enjoying the crisp autumn air and good company.

Hoping these ideas inspire fall fun, dinners, conversations and naps!  And if you don’t have a screened in porch, perhaps these ideas will inspire an addition.

  1.  Nap

An all-time favorite- who doesn’t love a nap on a cool, crisp fall afternoon?  Outfit your porch with a daybed for comfortable napping and fill a basket with blankets ready for cool days.

  •  Get Away From it All

A porch is the perfect retreat from a hectic schedule and busy days.  Leave your technology behind and step outside onto a porch to get away from it all.

  •  Have Intimate Conversations

Make sure your porch is outfitted with comfortable chairs to allow for long and close conversations between family and friends.  Porches are a great place to catch up, share memories and linger.

  •  Take in the View

Have a beautiful view?  Be sure your screened in porch is fitted with furniture that takes full advantage of your view.  Take time to notice nature all the colors of fall.

  •  Play Games

Spend time with family or friends playing cards or games in your outdoor space.  Consider adding a game table to your space just for this purpose.

  •  Catch the Big Game

Football weekends and crisp air go hand in hand.  A porch can be an inviting open-air spot for watching your favorite team.

  •  Throw a Party

Porches make great spot for folks to gather, and if you have the room for a beverage station, it makes it easy to have an impromptu fall happy hour.

  •  Dine Alfresco

Summer time is often too hot to enjoy an outdoor meal, but the heat relents in the fall, making it a good time of the year for casual meals on the porch.  Make sure to have comfortable seating so that people can linger after the meal.
