It’s that season again where moms and grandmas are on the hunt for items to fill the Easter basket. May I make a suggestion? Add a book. If you’re wondering where to start, here are a few wonderful options by Christian authors for a variety of ages.

Happy Easter, Risen King by Laura Sassi, illustrated by Gaby Murphy (ages 0-4)

Follow Jesus’ friends and some playful critters as they go to the tomb to look for Jesus, an angel gives them good news, and everyone happily exclaims, “Happy Easter, Risen King!” With cheerful rhymes and bright illustrations, your child will be drawn into the joy of Easter while identifying the colors of that very special morning.

Adventures in the Friendly Forest by Amanda Jass, illustrated by Katya Longhi (ages 5-9)

Written in story form, the book opens with a fierce storm sweeping through the Friendly Forest. Each remaining devotion features the adorable yet flawed woodland creatures. As they work together to clean up from the storm, each story gently weaves in a life lesson—the final devotion ends with a story of hope.

Faithful Feet by Laura Sassi, illustrated by Emanuela Di Donna (ages 4-7)

This winsome book follows along with familiar Bible heroes as they use their feet to do God’s work. The beginning and end will tickle children as they read about those stinky, chubby, and grubby feet used to spread God’s love to all. Engaging and fun!

Wild Faith Devotional by Valerie Ellis (ages 7-12)

The devotional features 52 unique and unusual animals, like a glass frog (who knew), as well as more familiar animals like the dog and lion. While learning about the amazing animals God made and their uniqueness, kids will connect with Him in a deeper way.

Faith and Science with Dr. Fizzlebop: 52 Fizztastically Fun Experiments and Devotions for Families by Brock Eastman (ages 5-10)

Do you have a budding scientist? Explore the wonders of faith and science with 52 exciting experiments designed for kids and parents to enjoy together. Each experiment—carefully curated by our quirky guide, Dr. Fizzlebop—offers a delightful blend of learning and fun.

Secrets of the Broken House by Taryn Souders (ages 10-13)

A creepy house. A small-town murder. One clever junior sleuth. What more could you want in a middle-grade mystery? Honestly, I don’t read many books in this age range, but this one hooked me in from the first clue. The dose of humor, cast of quirky characters, and dash of spooky make this a fun read. A true gem for mystery-loving readers—young and not-so-young alike.

These wholesome, faith-filled books will last longer than jellybeans or toys and continue to plant seeds well after Easter.
