One month down, eleven more to go. How are the resolutions panning out? Still encouraged on your weight loss journey? Without question, every year, the most popular New Year’s resolution is to lose weight. So here’s a few tips I found to help you achieve your goal:
LIQUID WEIGHT LOSS
If losing weight was one of your New Year’s resolutions, listen up: Changing to water from other drinks that contain calories can help people lose 5 pounds fast, according to The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. This simple change doubles the chance of losing 5 percent of body weight, too. As little as two glasses of water drunk before a meal can increase weight loss significantly, say researchers.
WORKING OUT BEFORE BREAKFAST COULD OFFER BIGGER BENEFIT
Breakfast is still the most important meal of the day, but getting in your workout beforehand can provide greater weight loss benefits. A new study tested three groups to see which offered the most weight saving techniques. All three teams consumed equally, but only two groups worked out heavily — one in the morning before breakfast, and one after breakfast. The results indicated that the individuals with a carbohydrate-rich diet gained more weight working out after their early morning meal.
Can’t lose weight? Blame your phone. Smartphones are a common barrier to weight loss, suggests new research from the American College of Cardiology Latin America Conference.
High levels of smartphone use are linked to decreased physical activity and a worse diet, which are both serious barriers to weight loss. People using their smartphones for 5 or more hours per day have a 43 percent higher risk of obesity, researchers found.
