October is a great month for family activities throughout Middle Tennessee. The weather is often comfortable, making it a perfect time to enjoy the outdoors. From local festivals and pumpkin patches to hayrides, corn mazes, and craft fairs, musical events, there are plenty of opportunities for wholesome fun and family memories.
Before the holiday season arrives with its busy schedules and long to-do lists, make time for your family. Sit down together, look at the many activities available, and choose at least two that everyone can enjoy. Put them on the calendar, make your plans, and follow through. These simple times together can become some of the memories your family remembers most.
You don’t always have to attend a special event to make the most of the season. A simple drive to enjoy God’s creation can be just as meaningful. As the leaves begin to turn red, orange, and gold, pack a picnic, load up the family, and spend a day exploring. Middle Tennessee has many parks with picnic areas, hiking trails, and quiet places where families can slow down, talk, laugh, and enjoy being together.
Taking a break from screens and devices—even for a day—can help us reconnect with one another and step away from the demands of everyday life. Making time for family should be a priority, especially as we approach the busy holiday season.
As believers, we know that family is an important part of God’s plan. From the beginning of Scripture, the family has been a foundation for society and an important place for faith to be taught and lived out. The Bible gives us examples of both strong and struggling families, along with wisdom about love, respect, forgiveness, and unity in the home. Taking time to read and discuss these passages together can help keep God at the center of family life.
This October, make family time more than just another item on the calendar. Use the season to enjoy one another, appreciate God’s creation, and strengthen your family’s faith. The time you invest in your family now can have an impact long after the leaves have fallen and the season has changed.
