Enrolling your child as a swimmer at British Swim School goes beyond simply learning to survive and swim. Our goal is to provide a supportive learning environment that caters to children’s developmental stages. As proud members of the United States Swim School Association, we adhere to their guidelines, ensuring safety protocols and fostering a team atmosphere. Discover the top three benefits of learning in a group environment and why it’s the ideal choice for your child.

Learning from other swimmers

Being in a group lesson gives swimmers the opportunity to learn from others during the lesson. Students can progress their personal swim skills faster when they have the chance to observe other students practicing with the instructor. In addition, even our most fearful swimmers will gain confidence from watching and playing with other brave swimmers. Seeing others push themselves can also inspire your swimmer to try their best every turn. Not to mention how cute it is to see more experienced swimmers encourage their timid friends!

Rest time

Swimmers benefit from taking a break physically and mentally between turns. The National Institute of Health conducted a study demonstrating that small rest periods between practicing a skill increases performance and retention. Group lessons provide this opportunity of small rest periods that will aid in the retention and progress of swim skills. It’s important to remember that for these children, some skills can be difficult to learn and it’s all brand new. Allowing them to process and think about it before trying again is a huge gain for memory retention.

Fun!

Children love to interact with their friends and peers at the pool! Having the opportunity to learn life-saving skills while having fun with their friends is an added benefit of group instruction. Our instructors are trained in “showtime!” This means that they are encouraged to sing a variety of songs and give lots of high fives. They’re also tasked with making sure swimmers are eager to attend lessons, have fun during class time, and are sad to leave. Small group instruction ensures more laughter and fun for your developing swimmer–resulting in better outcomes than learning alone.

At British Swim School, we prioritize your child’s safety, skill development, and enjoyment of the learning process. Learning in a group environment offers invaluable benefits such as learning from peers, rest time for enhanced performance and retention, and the sheer fun of interacting with friends. Our qualified instructors ensure a nurturing and engaging experience that fosters a love for swimming and a strong foundation of essential skills. Enroll your child in our group swim lessons today and witness their growth and confidence in and out of the water.

These are all inherent benefits that come with our group lessons, ensuring a well-rounded and rewarding experience for your child.
