Sally Cressman’s debut picture book, “The Dance of Easter,” - Easter Books For the Whole Family | Nashville Christian Family Magazine

Easter is weeks away, and it’s time to fill those Easter baskets. Books fit perfectly in the baskets (unlike Christmas stockings). I’ve included some of my favorite authors and books for the whole family (full disclosure, one of the books is mine).

Devotionals

Everyday Joys Devotional (Tama Fortner)

You’ll not only read about her stories of God connections but are invited and challenged to experience your own opportunities to meet with God in the “ordinary” and sometimes mundane moments. This conversational and thought-provoking devotional is perfect for walking through the forty days of Lent or when you need a spark of joy.

Families

The Way to the Savior (Jeff and Abbey Land)

The authors guide families as they explore and celebrate eight aspects of Lent, the season leading up to Easter: Forgiveness, Hope, Trust, Thanksgiving, Love, Commitment, Obedience, and Jesus’ Last Days. Filled with discussion questions, easy family activities, and prayers, this collection of devotions will bring your family together to celebrate the way to the Savior year after year.

Kids

The Dance of Easter (Sally Cressman)

All creation wakes from its slumber and bursts forth in joyful celebration at Jesus’ resurrection—even the sloth who’s a little behind the beat. Dance along with the animals as they rejoice in the good news that Jesus is alive!

Easter is Coming (Tama Fortner)

As the youngsters hear God’s tale unfold with its sometimes somber notes about sin and death, they are softly and continually reminded, “But Easter is coming!” By the end of this board book, the anticipation has built, and the little ones can celebrate the ending and the glory of Easter Sunday.

I Know Who I Am (Dorena Williamson)

Join children from Haiti, India, Korea, Rwanda, Spain, New Zealand, and many more countries as they each declare God’s truth about their identities. Each page is a beautiful reminder for kids about who they are—and, most importantly, whom they belong to.

Teenagers

James — Teen Girls’ Bible Study Book (Amy-Jo Girardier)

Throughout this five-session study on the book of James, girls will discover practical and transformative habits that lead to real-life faith adventures. Through fun and interactive study days, Amy-Jo Girardier teaches teen girls how to experience abundant life by doing real life with Jesus.

Sports Shorts (Del Duduit)

Sports Shorts will show you wonderful examples of all-star, major league Christian football and baseball players at their best so you can be inspired to be your best.

Anxiety Elephants for Teenagers (Caris Snider)

Caris’s relatable prose and kind voice will ease teenagers through their daily struggles as they see God’s providential hand in their lives. As teens face an unprecedented world, ensure they are equipped with this guide on tackling their fear.

Sally Cressman’s debut picture book, “The Dance of Easter,” will be released on March 5. She writes about faith, family, and home on her website, www.sallycressman.com.
