Spring is more than in the air; it’s in the ground. Suddenly, trees are leafy again, the grass needs weekly cutting, and plants you thought were long gone are alive and well. That became particularly true in one little corner of my back yard, where the conditions for growth were not ideal.
Last fall I carved out a space for future plants—dug up the grass, laid down a barrier, and covered it with mulch—but I didn’t plant anything. As it turns out, I didn’t have to: a crop of chives pushed their way through that barrier and through the mulch to greet the spring. They may not be exactly what I had in mind for that bed, but I had to admire their determination!
In a sense, we at Lee Company have shown that same kind of “against-all-odds” determination, especially during 2020. Not only did we continue to serve our customers without skipping a beat during the pandemic, but we planted the seeds for growth in our Home Services group: three new offices to serve the communities we call home. And despite the challenges 2020 posed for us, those efforts came to fruition even before the year came to a close.
Our East Nashville office, which opened in December 2020, primarily serves customers in high-rise and multi-family housing. Serving the West Nashville area is our Bellevue office, which opened its doors in February 2021. And most recently we welcomed our newest office to our Lee Company family, Chattanooga, which opened on April 1! Our first Eastern time zone location will serve facility customers and homeowners in both Tennessee and Georgia.
Opening three offices within six months takes more than determination; it also takes a commitment to serve others, according to our president and CEO Richard Perko. “These expansions help us grow as a company, hire new employees where they live, and provide new opportunities to current ones,” he says. “It also allows us to give back to new communities, a key part of our mission.”
Community service plays such a big role in our company culture that hardly a week goes by without our teammates actively engaging with our community: supporting youth sports, volunteering at a food bank, working with students, collecting supplies for families in need, and scores of other activities. We’re already seeing this happen in our new communities.
Stay tuned to see where we grow next!
