My wife and I love September. It’s one of our favorite months because it signals that fall—the season we cherish most—is just around the corner. With the kids back in school and Labor Day marking the unofficial close of summer, life seems to settle into a new rhythm.
The days grow shorter, flocks of geese begin their journey south, and football season gets underway, bringing with it a familiar sense of excitement and anticipation. You can almost feel autumn in the air. For me, there is a renewed energy that comes with knowing the brilliant transformation of the leaves is just weeks away.
In the midst of the chaos and uncertainty we see across our country and around the world, the steady rhythm of the seasons reminds us of something greater: God is still in control. His handiwork in creation reflects order, beauty, purpose, and majesty—unchanging truths in a world that can often feel anything but certain.
Yet it is easy to become so caught up in the busyness of life that we overlook the wonder all around us. Over the coming weeks, I encourage you and your family to slow down and intentionally take notice. Watch as the trees change. Feel the crispness of the morning air. Take a walk. Look at the beauty of creation and give thanks to the Creator who designed it all.
As a biblical reminder, spend some time reading and reflecting on Psalm 104 and Genesis 1. Both passages direct our attention to the One who spoke creation into existence and continues to sustain it by His power. And then consider God’s crowning creation—man. Psalm 139:13-14 says: “You formed my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
The changing seasons remind us that God’s creation is intentional and purposeful. The trees, the skies, the changing weather, and even the rhythm of our lives all point us back to the Creator. But among all He has made, He created us uniquely in His image, with purpose and value.
So, as September arrives and we anticipate the beauty of fall, perhaps we should pause long enough to truly see it. In a world filled with noise and uncertainty, the changing seasons offer a quiet reminder that God remains faithful, His creation remains magnificent, and His purposes remain sure.
