Dr. Ming Wang, Harvard & MIT graduate (MD, magna cum laude) and one of the few laser eye surgeons in the world today who holds a PhD in laser physics who has performed over 55,000 laser vision surgeries (including on over 4,000 doctors), announced that the Tennessee Immigrant and Minority Business Group (www.TIMBG.org) will host a quarterly forum on immigrant entrepreneurs on Thursday September 10 at 5:30 p.m. at TPOM (136 Rains Ave, RSVP: ella@wangvisioninstitute.com, 615-525-3314). Dr. Wang co-founded TIMBG in 2013 and has served as its president He himself is an immigrant. The Angel studios’ film “Sight” (FREE link: sight.drmingwang.com) is based on Dr. Wang’s autobiography “From Darkness to Sight”, and his faith journey is also featured in the award-winning film “God’s Not Dead”.
Regarding immigrants and minorities, Dr. Wang said: 20% of U.S. population are Latinos, 18% African Americans and 7% Asians. These three so-called minorities are already 45%, and white are 46%. Hence, in a few years the minorities will become the majority for the first time in U.S. history! Not only where we are as a nation in the racial distribution, but also where we are going. The medium age of white is 58, Asians 29, African Americans 27 and Latinos (legals only) 11.
Dr. Wang’s point is: In an unprecedentedly polarized nation (the Divided States of America), where are we are increasingly unable to work across political isles, racial divides and ethnic divisions, so, to solve the problems that we really need to solve (gun violence, opioid crisis, environmental disasters, racial tension, poverty, education, jobs, healthcare), we need, more than ever, the work and contributions made my immigrants and minorities. Why? Because immigrants and minorities are pragmatic problem solvers!

As a teenager, Ming fought hardship in his childhood and came to America with only $50 and earned two doctorate degrees, one in laser physics and one in medicine, and graduated with the highest honors from Harvard Medical School and MIT.
