On Saturday 27, Darrell Waltrip Subaru had the honor of having a booth at Hickman Sober Fest in Hickman County — an event dedicated to raising awareness for addiction recovery, suicide prevention, and mental health. It was a powerful and emotional day, filled with stories of resilience, community support, and renewed hope.
“One of the most moving parts of the day was the butterfly release ceremony, where I had the privilege of releasing butterflies on behalf of Darrell Waltrip Subaru to symbolize new beginnings. For many in attendance — survivors of suicide loss, individuals in recovery, and their family members — the butterflies served as a reminder that healing is always possible, and that each day offers a fresh start. It was a quiet, beautiful moment that resonated deeply with everyone present as the butterflies, much like many of us, needed a little encouragement to take flight” -Charlotte Blackwell, Darrell Waltrip Subaru
At Darrell Waltrip Subaru, we believe in supporting more than just drivers — we believe in supporting people, in every stage of life. Events like Sober Fest give us the opportunity to stand alongside our community not just as a dealership, but as a partner in compassion, healing, and hope. We are proud to be part of a movement that prioritizes mental health, recovery resources, and support for those who need it most.
Throughout the day, we had the chance to connect with many amazing individuals and organizations working on the front lines of addiction and mental health recovery. We heard stories from individuals in recovery, with past attempts, and family members who have lost loved ones to addiction or suicide. The sense of unity and strength in the community was undeniable — a reminder that no one has to face their struggles alone and there are resources out there to help when everything feels bleak.
Whether it was the heartfelt stories shared from the stage, the hugs exchanged between friends and strangers alike, or the peaceful flight of butterflies into the sky, Hickman Sober Fest was a meaningful reminder of how powerful community and connection can be, and you could really feel the love in the air.
Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, and every person who showed up to make this event such a success. We’re honored to have played a small part in such a big message: hope is real, and help is here.
