As we celebrate the birth of our nation this month, let us take a moment to reflect on the countless blessings God has poured out on the United States of America since our Founding Fathers declared independence from England.

Throughout our history, men and women have made—and continue to make—great sacrifices, including their lives, to protect the freedoms we enjoy today. Chief among them is the freedom to worship God openly, to live under a democratic system, and to stand as a beacon of liberty to the world.

But beyond our national freedom, we should thank God for the eternal freedom He offers through His Son, Jesus Christ. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, we are offered forgiveness of sins and the promise of everlasting life—a gift available to all who believe.

As you gather with your family this Independence Day, take time to talk about the precious freedoms we enjoy as Americans. Emphasize especially the foundational role of religious liberty—our ability to worship God freely—as the cornerstone upon which this nation was built. Make sure your children understand and appreciate this vital truth.

We are one nation under God. May He, in His mercy, continue to bless America.
