Every Bridges episode is carefully curated to bring you hope for the journey. Recently, I was on the Bridges set sharing my passion for praying God’s promises over your family.

One of the best ways to overcome hesitancy in prayer is to pray God’s promises. When you pray God’s promises you can never go wrong. He is committed to His Word and He invites us to bring Him in remembrance of His Word. Here is a promise that will help your prayer life.

If you remain in me and my words remain in you,

ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.

John 15:7 NLT

God makes it clear that He wants to answer our prayers. He invites us to pray and promises to answer according to His Will. When it comes to your family praying the promises of God can change the trajectory of our life – and our family’s life. Whether your children are 4 or 44 they need our prayer.

God Wants to Bless Our Family

When circumstances are challenging it’s important to recognize that God wants to bless our family.

“Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” Then he took the children in his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.

Mark 10:13-16 NLT

This scripture underscores His desire to bless our children and family. When we approach prayer with the understanding that God invites us to pray, and that God wants to bless our family, prayer becomes a joy.

God is all about the family. The husband and wife. The parents and children. While the family may be under attack – God’s promises still stand strong. His Word can’t fail, and neither can you when you pray His promises. His Word has the power to bring light to any situation. He alone can make the crooked places straight.

I spend a lot of time praying for my family. While I am still waiting to see some of those promises fulfilled, I know it would be dangerous to give up. You may be waiting for some promises to be fulfilled. Perhaps your marriage looks bleak, or your adult child is a prodigal. Whatever it is – nothing is too hard for God. When the wait is long, and discouragement comes my way I remind myself of His promises. I also remember the parable of the persistent widow.

Don’t Give Up

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.

Luke 18:1 NLT

We all face discouragement from time to time. We learn from the parable of the persistent widow that we should always pray and never give up. Maybe today is the day you start a new prayer journey for your family.

We can try to fix things on our own (I have tried and failed – many times). Or we can do all we can in the natural and trust God through prayer to do the supernatural.

Praying God’s promises over your family is one of the most significant things you can do. You may see an immediate answer or there may be a wait. Whatever the case don’t give up. He wants to bless our families and as we pray, we will see His will come to pass.
