Happy New Year - 2025 | Nashville Christian Family Magazine

I hope you had a blessed and Merry Christmas and are looking forward to a wonderful new year!

It is natural to measure our lives in days, weeks, months, and years. As we grow older, time seems to pass more quickly. I am 75 years young and I can attest to the truth of the old saying, “the older you get, the faster time goes!”

Whatever experiences this past year has brought—whether joyful or challenging—one thing unites us as believers: the hope we carry as we step into 2025. We look forward to the blessings God has in store for us, our loved ones, and our friends in the coming year.

The Bible offers us numerous passages to guide us, whether our expectations are earthly or eternal. Philippians 3 provides a particularly meaningful example of how we can approach a new year. Verses 13 and 14 contain a powerful directive from God through Paul’s words to the Christians in Philippi:

“Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (New American Standard)

Paul’s words challenge us to set our focus on the future, leaving behind past distractions or burdens. As we adopt his mindset as a New Year’s resolution, we align ourselves with the call to live in a Godly manner, walking daily with the Lord.
