“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16 (NKJV)

A Thanksgiving Reflection

Thanksgiving is a time when families gather, favorite foods are served, and we enjoy the traditions that make this holiday special. Between preparing the meal, visiting with loved ones, and watching football, the day can pass quickly. Yet Thanksgiving also gives us an opportunity to stop and consider the many reasons we have to thank God.

The blessings we enjoy extend far beyond what we see on our dinner tables. The beauty of the natural world, the changing seasons, the people who enrich our lives, and the daily provisions we sometimes take for granted all remind us of God’s goodness. Even in difficult seasons, there is much to appreciate when we take time to recognize His presence and faithfulness.

Above all, we have reason to be thankful for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. John 3:16 reminds us of the depth of God’s love for humanity. He gave His Son so that we might receive forgiveness and the promise of everlasting life. Through Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection, we have a hope that reaches beyond our circumstances and even beyond this life. No earthly blessing can compare with this gift of grace.

Thanksgiving also reminds us to look beyond our own homes and consider those who may be facing loneliness, hardship, or uncertainty. A kind word, a shared meal, a helping hand, or a thoughtful visit can make a meaningful difference. When we show compassion to others, we put our gratitude into action and demonstrate the love of Christ.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving this year, let us enjoy the fellowship and traditions we cherish while keeping our hearts focused on the One who makes every blessing possible. True thanksgiving is not limited to a holiday or a meal. It is an attitude of the heart that recognizes God’s goodness and responds with faith, generosity, and praise.

May this Thanksgiving bring your family closer together and renew your appreciation for God’s abundant blessings. And above all, may you find lasting peace and hope in the greatest gift of all—Jesus Christ.
