In 2020, Stephanie Beard lost her son, Booker Dalton, to a fatal overdose, which led the family to form the Booker D. Foundation. For years, Kristi Tinin-Hodge has experienced the throws of active addiction as her own son navigates the dark, isolating valley of addiction, which inspired Hope in Recovery, a recovery ministry of Hope Church in Hickman County. Driven by a shared call to bring healing out of heartbreak, these two families, blood and church, have turned personal pain into a ministry of purpose—creating a space where lives can be restored through community and an introduction to Christ and people are met without shame or judgment.
On Saturday, September 19, 2026, that mission comes alive at Hideaway Farm in Bon Aqua, Tennessee, as Booker D. foundation and Hope in Recovery co-host Recovery Fest Hickman for the second year. Set on the historic property once owned by Johnny Cash—a man who spoke openly about his own struggles and God’s grace—the gathering is designed to shatter the stigma surrounding addiction, offer tangible treatment resources, and lift up the power of community in mental health and substance abuse recovery. “Addiction affects the whole community, and recovery should, too.” —Kristi Tinin-Hodge, Hope in Recovery

Live; Love; Walk: Kicking off the morning at 9:00 AM on a beautiful path around the grounds of Hideaway Farm. A time to honor loved ones lost to overdose and suicide, as well as education for prevention.
Family Festival & Fellowship: Starting at 10:00 AM the festival opens with FREE admission, featuring local music and artists, powerful testimonies of freedom from substance abuse disorder, food vendors, and fun activities for kids and adults alike (bounce houses / foam pit & more). Resources & Ministry Outreach: Dozens of recovery groups, prevention advocates, and local ministries standing ready to connect individuals and families with real help.
Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Recovery Fest Hickman is more than a community festival—it is a living testimony that no life is beyond the reach of redemption.
