Dr. Ming Wang, Harvard & MIT (MD, magna cum laude); PhD (laser physics), Director of Wang Vision Institute and the subject of the movie “Sight” (FREE link: sight.drmingwang.com), gave a keynote speech at Marshall County Reagan Day dinner recently entitled “Appreciating freedom in America by finding common ground” in the wake of the recent string of political violence in our nation.
Dr. Wang talked about the state of our nation, the unprecedented division and polarization we are experiencing due to human nature’s greed for power, control and money, which has left much of our society’s major problems unaddressed (i.e., gun violence, opioid crisis, environmental disasters, poverty, racial tension, education, jobs, economy and healthcare), and how we can truly appreciate the freedom we have in America, by pulling together as a nation and heeding a higher calling of shared humanity which will allow us to reunite and restore as a nation!
Dr. Wang co-founded a non-profit Common Ground Network with Dr. Rice Broocks. They have studied in depth why we need to and how to find common ground and have formulated the “Common ground-seeking STEPS”:
- See common ground;
- Trading places;
- Empathy;
- Persevere;
- Seek common ground.
The Common Ground Network has published three books: Sight Bible Study, Common Ground Bible Study and Common Ground Mandate, calling to all Christians to overcome the human nature (for power, control and money) and heed a higher calling from the ultimate common ground seeker Jesus Christ, to love people despite of our differences and to work together to rebuild our nation.
