Jay and Tammy Daughtry hosted a celebration on Saturday, September 9th at Trevecca Community Church to commemorate the 20 years of hope and ministry through CoParenting International. They chose the specific location because it was the exact room they exchanged their “first hello” back in 2009. The event began with emcee, Doug Griffin of 94FM The Fish Radio, opening in prayer and dismissing for dinner. As guests enjoyed the cheesecake bar, a lively auction took place to raise funds for the mission of CoParenting International – to bring HOPE to parents raising children between two homes.
After the auction, Doug welcomed Jay and Tammy Daughtry, who were seated at “their table” where they met, and they each shared a bit about their journey and how God had been at work in CoParenting International. Dick Gygi, with title sponsor Halftime International, shared about Tammy’s vision and mission to serve single parents and stepparents who are co-parenting and be a voice for children impacted by divorce. Dick also introduced Pastor Charles McGowan who shared a special dedication of “Un Corazon, Dos Hogares”, the Spanish version of One Heart, Two Homes. One Heart, Two Homes is the DVD and online coparenting curriculum that is the foundation for the ministry and used in over 35,000 homes, churches, counseling centers, pregnancy centers, military bases and beyond.
Dr. James Schut took the stage with an exciting announcement of the launch of an evidence-based research project on the One Heart, Two Homes digital training. With an “evidence based” designation of this curriculum, Dr. Schut shared that many additional doors will be opened to share this message of HOPE with parents that are raising children between two homes.
The evening was also underscored with meaningful music. Cindy Morgan touched on hard topics of brokenness and depression as she offered a personal accolade to CPI founder Tammy Daughtry from the stage. Later in the program Steve Siler (Music for the Soul) and Devin Belle performed a song called Still a Family, helping us envision a mom and dad each ensuring their child that though they had become a single parent household they would certainly always be a family despite the complex future before them. “Still a Family” was written by Tammy Daughtry, Steve Siler, Scott Krippayne and Tony Wood.
Jay Daughtry and Steve Hindalong (The Choir, Flying Frog Publishing) gave the attendants a stunning inside look at a conversation between a father and daughter as the dad is given the task of explaining the impending divorce in the song One Heart, Two Homes. “One Heart, Two Homes” was written by Jay and Tammy Daughtry and Steve Hindalong. A few powerful letters of testimony were shared on behalf of clients that Jay and Tammy have walked alongside in the last several years of working with individuals and families.
John Damschroder, donor and friend of CPI, advocated for a generous evening of charitable giving to help bring to reality many of the significant projects that CPI is hoping to accomplish in the next few years.
As the evening drew to a close, we were blessed with a word of prayer by Bruce Koblish, long-time friend of the Daughtry’s, and an intimate musical benediction as Steve Hindalong, along with the other musicians, led us to lift our hearts and voices as we sang God of Wonders. CoParenting International facilitates those kind of grace experiences for parents and children all around the world and by that same Grace, will continue to for the next 20 years.
